TOM HIDDLESTON SPRINTS DOWN LONDON'S SOUTH BANK AT 17MPH AS HE IS SEEN FILMING SEASON 2 OF THE NIGHT MANAGER FOR THE FIRST TIME

Tom Hiddleston sprinted down London's South Bank as he was seen filming season two of The Night Manager for the first time on Tuesday.

It was a long night for the Loki actor, 43, as he filmed the tense outdoor scene at 4am in the morning.

Tom cut a casual figure for the shoot as he was dressed in a black hoodie with matching shorts and trainers.

Members of the crew tracked his running speed during the scene which hit an impressive 17mph.

The production crew followed Tom along on a cart as he belted down the street.

Inspired by the characters in John le Carré's best-selling novel, the first series won multiple BAFTAs, Emmy Awards, and Golden Globes and was watched by more than ten million viewers, making it one of 2016's most watched TV shows.

Tom himself won a Golden Globe for his role as ex-soldier Jonathan Pine and, speaking after the shock announcement, said: 'The first series of The Night Manager was one of the most creatively fulfilling projects I have ever worked on.

'The depth, range and complexity of Jonathan Pine was, and remains, a thrilling prospect.

'I'm so looking forward to reuniting with Simon and Stephen Cornwell, David Farr and Stephen Garrett, and to working with Georgi Banks-Davies to tell the next chapter of our story. I can't wait.'

Along with Tom, the series also starred Hugh Laurie, Olivia Colman, Tom Hollander, David Harewood and Elizabeth Debicki.

Tom did nothing to calm the rumours around the upcoming series when he appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live earlier this yeatr.

Questioned by the US talk show host about Hugh Laurie's potential return to the show, the actor said: 'I don't know. He is a huge influence - he knows the character better than anyone.'

Kimmel replied: 'This seems for sure like a lie because you just said you figured out the story. How could there be the story figured out without knowing if Hugh Laurie is in the story?'

Sharing the clip, one X user wrote: 'Kimmel catching Tom Hiddleston in a straight up lie about whether he knows if Hugh Laurie will be in seasons 2/3 of The Night Manager.'

Hugh is set to join Tom as an executive producer on the series, which is being made by The Ink Factory, but it remains a mystery whether he will reprise his role as Richard Onslow Roper.

The new seasons will premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK and globally on Prime Video, in a deal negotiated by FIFTH SEASON, which is handling global distribution of the series.
