COPS PROBE ALLEGED LEAK OF IMAGES LINKED TO ZAYN RAYYAN MURDER

PETALING JAYA: Police have launched an investigation following online postings of several images believed to be linked to the investigation into the murder of autistic six-year-old Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin.

Several photographs said to be related to the case went viral on Telegram since last night.

Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said today an investigation into the current matter is being carried out under the Official Secrets Act, the Penal Code and the Communications and Multimedia Act. Social media users are advised to delete any posts or comments that could lead to speculation or spread misinformation.

“We urge the public not to share any content classified under the Official Secrets Act. Doing so would not only jeopardise investigations but also the ongoing court case. Stern legal action will be taken against anyone found to be sharing the images,” he said, according to Sinar Harian.

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission has also requested social media platforms such as TikTok and Telegram to remove the content showing alleged leaks on the Zayn investigation.

Petaling Jaya deputy police chief Shahrulnizam Ja’afar said that a report on the images was filed by a senior police officer at 12.15am today. Earlier this month, images of information allegedly about the case were also circulated on social media, prompting the boy’s family and the investigating officer to lodge reports over the matter.

The parents of Zayn have been charged with child neglect, to which they pleaded not guilty.
